Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott announced on Wednesday that the state is investing a major financial commitment toward a border wall to stop the growing immigration crisis.
“The Biden Administration has abandoned its responsibilities to secure the border and Texans are suffering as a result,” Abbott said, according to a press release from his office.
“The problems along the border are only getting worse due to President Biden’s inaction. Property is being destroyed, deadly drugs and illegal weapons are being smuggled into communities throughout the state, law enforcement is having to redirect their resources, and county judges and mayors are facing skyrocketing expenses,” he added.
Abbot said, “Texas is doing more than any state has ever done to protect the border, but it is clear that more is needed. In the Biden Administration’s absence, Texas is stepping up to get the job done by building the border wall. Through this comprehensive public safety effort, we will secure the border, slow the influx of unlawful immigrants, and restore order in our border communities.”
The Lone Star State governor also tweeted the announcement, saying, “Texas is doing more than any state has ever done to protect the border. In the Biden Administration’s absence, Texas is stepping up to get the job done by building the border wall.”
According to the press release “the Governor, Lieutenant Governor Patrick, Speaker Phelan, and Senator Nelson, and Representative Bonnen signed a letter during the press conference authorizing the transfer for $250 million as a down payment to launch the construction of the border wall and hire a program manager and contractors.”
In addition to the initial payment, additional future funds were also announced. “Governor Abbott also noted that the state budget allocates 1.1 billion dollars towards border security — a record for the State of Texas.”
Beyond state funding, Abbott announced the launch of a donation page “where anyone can voluntarily donate to the construction of the border wall.” Donors can personally support the effort at borderwall.texas.gov.
Abbott’s response reveals the new GOP strategy. If Biden won’t do anything, take matters into your own hands.
An open border is too much of a security risk to leave neglected for long. Abbott and other Texas leaders know the only solution is to act now before it gets worse.
Giving Americans an opportunity to build the Texas border wall through donations is almost too good to be true. If Abbotts succeeds, he doesn’t need to only be reelected. Get this guy in the White House!
Immigration is the nation’s biggest issue at the moment, outranking even COVID-19 in recent polls. Americans seem focused on two issues: the border and the economy.
The border is something Abbott can do something about. He’s also pushing hard to keep the Texas economy strong, with the state ranking at or near the top in many national economic categories.
It’s a case study on how to lead a state—and maybe the nation. If conservatives need an example of how to respond to a do-nothing Biden agenda, it might be time to take a little visit to Texas.
This is great news. I will be contributing to help fund the Texas initiative. Hopefully, governor Abbott will sue the federal government for dereliction of duty.

I’ve been saying this for much longer than the current crisis exists.
There needs to be strategically located snipers along every river crossing. Any water craft or raft needs to be sunk immediately before reaching the half-way point across. Once the illegals realize they will be sank, they must be further convinced if they survive the water craft capsizing, it is a better idea to turn around and go back. To advance any further toward a protected U S border will be very dangerous to their continued existence.

If that was Trump, they would impeach him again…..but to lawless Demoncrats, they are immune to prosecution, even when dereliction of duty is so apparent.

Well done Governor Abbot. I have very little, but what I do have I will donate to our problem at the southern border. This is not a Republican or Democrat thing, this is about our nation as a whole. It’s not just a Texas problem either, so I encourage everyone to dig as deep as they can and help build this wall.
This is absolutely unbelievable. The federal government will do nothing to protect the people and our borders and the state is going to have to do it themselves. This is the federal governments job. The article listed borderwall.texas.gov as the site to go to, so I’d say we check that for donating. Thank you, Gov. Abbott and Texas for stepping up! Just think, the money to complete the ENTIRE wall was ALL set aside, including for support technology of tunnel sensors, surveillence, drones, staffing. Biden had his minions find a way to confiscate it all…for what? Pres Trump put a wise clause into the wall contract to prevent anyone from stopping the wall from being finished: a SIX MILLION $$/ DAY PENALTY for stopping it. But still Biden stopped it immediately, and the daily penalty kicked in. At Biden’s “100 day”, we already had $600 MILLION PENALTY. Texas is not the only state with a border problem. What happened to the monies that were lawfully allocated to building the southern border wall under the Trump administration. Were did that money disappear too. All border states should be sueing Biden for stealing those funds.

What they need to put in place along with the wall , Is a defense system like we had in Afghanistan, In Kandahar Nato base they had the parameter of the base fence with mines and motion sensors . If they were to get past the mines, the sensors would detect them, The base also had surveillance Balloons with cameras.
