Broward Cops Harass Parkland Survivor for Visiting a Gun Range

Kyle Kashuv, the one Parkland shooting survivor that isn’t a regular guest on CNN, was aggressively questioned by school resource officers after visiting a gun range with his father.

Like his peers at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, Kashuv has been very vocal in the national debate on gun control. Breaking from high-profile students such as David Hogg and Emma Gonzalez, who have militantly pushed for stricter regulations on guns, Kashuv comes out in favor of the Second Amendment. The student has met with many politicians to discuss the issue, including Florida Senators Bill Nelson and Marco Rubio as well as President Donald Trump.

While Kashuv has received far less of a media spotlight due to his conservative beliefs, he has appeared on various networks to make the case for respecting the Second Amendment even in the wake of a tragedy involving a firearm. Recently, Kashuv sought to improve his knowledge of firearms, and did so by taking a trip to a local gun range with his father.

During the visit, Kashuv had the opportunity to fire an AR-15 style rifle, the same used by the Parkland shooter who gunned down 17 people. He posted videos of him firing the weapon at targets on Twitter, along with commentary praising the Second Amendment. The Parkland student said he left the range with a newfound respect for the Constitution, and urged his followers to learn more about guns.

“It was great learning about our inalienable right of #2A and how to properly use a gun,” Kashuv tweeted. “This was my first time ever touching a gun and it made me appreciate the #Constitution even more. My instructor was very informative; I learnt [sic] a lot. #2A is important and we need 2 preserve 2A.”

That’s where the drama started. After his visit to the gun range, Kashuv reported a seemingly hostile encounter with MSD’s school resource officers. According to the shooting survivor, he was asked to leave class to meet with the officers, who reportedly aggressively questioned him about the posted videos.

“First, they began berating my tweet, although neither of them had read it; then they began aggressively asking questions about who I went to the range with, whose gun we used, about my father, etc,” Kashuv told the Daily Wire. “They were incredibly condescending and rude.”

But it didn’t stop there. After being asked what he described as redundant questions, another school resource officer arrived to continue the process.

“I asked if I had done anything wrong. Again, they answered no,” Kashuve continued. “I asked why I was there. One said, ‘Don’t get snappy with me, do you not remember what happened here a few months ago?'”

This is pretty rich stuff coming from the same law enforcement agency that completely failed to stop the mass slaughter of 17 people in the incident they referred to. They won’t run into an active shooting situation with loaded weapons to take down a suspect, but they are perfectly willing to harass someone for having the wrong opinion. If Kashuv’s account is completely accurate, Broward County cops were essentially bullying a minor for his political views — namely his support for a Constitutional right.

Unlike David Hogg, who has moved on from a simple gun control advocate to an astroturfed talking head for the Democratic Party, Kashuve has shown a willingness to reach out to those who may disagree with him — evidenced by his meeting with Democratic Senator Bill Nelson. Apparently, that isn’t enough for the left — the same people who chastise anyone who criticizes the likes of Hogg for allegedly bullying children who just lived through a tragedy.

Well, if you need any hard evidence of bias, this is it. If Hogg had reported a similar experience, he would spend the rest of the week on the mainstream networks recounting it. Alas — not a peep from the press about what happened to Kashuv, outside of a few conservative outlets.

It is deeply important for Florida residents to put pressure on Broward County officials, because what happened here is absolutely despicable.
